Carlsen remains World Champion!

01.12.2016 – After winning 3-1 in a dramatic tie-break Magnus Carlsen defended his title against Sergey Karjakin. After an unspectacular draw in game 1, Carlsen had a winning position in game 2 but was again frustrated by Karjakin's defensive skills. But Carlsen recovered and convincingly won game 3. Carlsen finished the tie-break and the match by mating Karjakin with a fine queen sacrifice in game 4. Millions of fans all over the world followed the match. David Navara shares his thoughts on the tiebreak.

Carlsen Vs Karjakin30.11.2016 – It's 6-6 in the World Championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin, and there will be no more classical games. But a decision. In a tie-break match which promises some of the most exciting chess moments of the year. The tie-break begins with a rapid match and starts at 2 pm local time New York. If the rapid games bring no decision Carlsen and Karjakin will play blitz for the title. Until we have a winner. Vlastimil Hort thinks this will be Carlsen.

 

 

Tie-break games will be played on November 30th, 2016.
